AhSa-Ti Nu Tyehimba-Ford - Sound Engineer, Vocalist, Poet, Musician & Activist

Born and raised in Dayton, OH I have been in love with music from a very early age. I grew up surrounded by a family of vocalists and musicians who influenced me with gospel, jazz, R&B, blues and Rock n' Roll. From learning how to plug in a mic at age 7 to graduating with a BAS in Sound Arts from Ex'pression College for Digital Arts, I always strive to provide great sounding music.

As a sound engineer I have recorded several artists and composed musical scores for films such as "The Gift of Family" and "When Least Expected". I have run live sound shows for artists such as R&B singer Joi, comedian Dave Chappelle, and Hip Hop artist Black Thought. I have two and a half years of experience in audio post production, more than ten years experience in studio production, and more than 5 years experience in live sound. My greatest goal in sound engineering is to provide the best possible service and sound for all within hearing range, which for me means the world. My number one job as an engineer is to do all I can to help every artists I work with get their message, meaning, feeling, and music out to their audience.

As a vocalist, poet, actress, African drummer and musician, it has been my honor to have graced the stage from the Midwest to Los Angeles, and the San Francisco/East Bay Area for several years. I have performed in arenas such as San Francisco Pride Soul of Pride Stage 2010, The Michigan Women’s Festival 2008, the Annual World Pride Spiritual Conference in Los Angeles 2008, and a regular at the Boom Boom Room on the renowned Fillmore Street in San Francisco, as lead vocalist and spoken word artist with Meastro Curtis and the Jazz Hieroglyphics band.  Working under the talented producer and instructor, Maestro Curtis of Jazzy Boo Records I have performed with some of the most talented Jazz, Blues, and R&B musicians in the business. I am also the founder of Pandora’s Paradox Project, founder and leader of the band Fertile Concept, musical director of AriSata Production Company, a member of the Jazz Hieroglyphics Band, and the Chocolate Rainbow Theatre Ensemble.

While I continue to step into my true self, expanding my spiritual awareness and views on social and cultural repression, I realize that my purpose in life is to use my talents for the struggle against racism, sexism, homophobia, and all other forms of social and internalized oppression. As a musician, I continuously strive to use my talents to educate and rejuvenate the community bringing a message of love peace & happiness to as many lives as I can through my words, music, and my dedication to both.
